HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) is hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber, a high-performance saturated elastomer widely used in fluid transfer hoses, especially for oil-based coolant circuits. It is commonly formulated with a peroxide curing system to achieve superior overall performance compared to conventional NBR and general rubber materials.

Excellent Compatibility with Oil-Based Coolants: The polar acrylonitrile structure of HNBR delivers exceptional resistance to various oil-based coolants, synthetic lubricant coolants, and long-life oil-type heat transfer fluids. It effectively prevents excessive swelling, softening, extraction, and chemical degradation, maintaining stable physical properties over prolonged contact. Unlike ordinary rubber, it resists degradation from modern additive packages in high-performance oil coolants.

Superior High-Temperature and Ageing Stability (Peroxide Crosslinked Structure): Peroxide vulcanization forms a robust carbon-carbon crosslink network, rather than sulfur crosslinks. This structure provides outstanding thermal ageing resistance and ultra-low compression set. It withstands continuous high-temperature cycling in engine and industrial oil cooling loops, resisting thermal fatigue, hardening, cracking and permanent deformation, ensuring consistent sealing and dimensional stability at elevated operating temperatures. It also features excellent ozone and oxidative ageing resistance under engine bay heat and harsh ambient conditions.

Reliable Mechanical and Dynamic Performance: HNBR maintains good tensile strength, tear resistance and flex fatigue resistance under dynamic vibration, pressure fluctuation and repeated thermal cycling. It works well with aramid or textile braid reinforcement to construct high-pressure coolant hoses, resisting burst failure and leakage in pressurized oil cooling systems. It also offers good abrasion resistance against external friction and vibration wear.

Low Permeation & Emission Compliance: HNBR material exhibits low fluid permeation, reducing coolant loss, volatile emissions and fluid contamination. It can meet global automotive and industrial fluid system standards, supporting long service intervals and environmentally friendly system designs. It also maintains balanced low-temperature flexibility, avoiding brittleness during cold startup and seasonal temperature variation.

Broad Chemical Compatibility: Besides oil-based coolants, HNBR tolerates mixed media including residual fuels, lubricants, glycol additives, and minor contaminants that exist in complex vehicle and industrial cooling circuits, preventing premature hose failure caused by mixed fluid corrosion.
